Of all the improvements you can make to your home, a swimming pool is probably the most dramatic… it doesn’t just enhance the value of your property, it enhances the quality of your life. The most common questions people ask when considering a pool are, “how big should it be?”, “how deep?”, “what shape should it be?” and “where should we put it?” As important as these questions are, the key question is, “who should I trust to build it?”
Of course, I think the answer to that question should be me! Over the years, a number of my clients have asked me, “how in world did you ever decide to become a pool contractor?” Good question! After all, it’s not exactly the type of career a kid decides on when he’s a little boy! It is when it’s in the family. You see my dad was a pool builder. As teenagers my brother and I where his crew. Of course he wanted better for us so he sent us or I better say advised us to join the Navy. So we did. And he went on with the pool business. Sad to say when we where in training he passed away. Long story short… we got discharged and we finished the jobs he had started. He was a great man.
Pool contracting has come a long way. I have been in this field a long time. So we have gone with all the changes. When you hire a pool contractor who’s missing my qualifications and capabilities, chances are you’ll be disappointed with the end result. Your pool is a personal expression of who you are and how you live your life. You can do it with quality, excellence and style or you can hire someone whose attitude is that a swimming pool is nothing more than a hole in the ground filled with water. Amazingly, the big difference between these two very different approaches to pool construction isn’t price. Yes, I make a profit on every pool I construct – it’s how I make my living. In fact, a well designed well-built pool that’s custom-planned to fit your lifestyle may very well cost less than a job done by someone who cuts corners to “keep prices down,” Why? Because a good contractor knows that his single most important asset is his REPUTATION. I believe quality is not expensive. It is Priceless.
With pools, as with everything else, there is a direct correlation between value and customer satisfaction. If you hire me to construct your pool and are delighted with the craftsmanship and the value you received for your investment, what are you going to tell your friends when they ask about your pool contractor? I certainly hope you will tell them to call me! I’m very proud of the work I do, and I’ll be happy to provide you with a list of my past customers. You can call them and ask if they are satisfied with the value they received for their money.
It may sound ironic, but even with all of today’s high-tech innovations, I believe pool contractors are akin to the craftsmen of long ago (like my Dad). Working with our customers, we take ideas and concepts and translate them into physical objects. Every element of design, every aspect of construction, every piece of material selected must work together to create something that is as attractive as it is functional. Sure, we use big machines, but essentially pools are built by hand. Each finished product is as unique as the man who builds it and the latest developments in good design, construction and maintenance.
In conclusion, I’d like to thank you for taking the time to read this. Despite all the pools I’ve put in over the years (around 600), I’m very well aware that yours is the only one you care about. I truly love what I do, and I hope I have the opportunity to do it for you. For you to become part of our family.
